Village dad killed in motorcycle-bus collision

BACOLOD CITY – A barangay councilor or kagawad was killed in a collision between a motorcycle and a bus on Osmeña Ave., Barangay 6, Victorias City, Negros Occidental on Monday night, August 5.

Police Major Joy Ellaga, deputy chief of the Victorias City Police Station, identified the victim as Kagawad Elvir Loraez, 64, of Barangay 12, Victorias City.

Investigation said the victim was driving a motorcycle on his way home and crossed a road but failed to notice an approaching bus.

The motorcycle collided with the bus and the victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Ellaga said the victim was not wearing a helmet.

She said passengers of the bus on their way to Escalante City, Negros Occidental were unharmed.

Ellaga said the bus firm and the victim’s family have met for a possible settlement.
