The Las Piñas City government declared a state of calamity due to the adverse effects of the enhanced southwest monsoon and Typhoon Carina.
Vice-Mayor April Aguilar said the city council approved City Resolution No.4267-24 declaring the city under the State of Calamity on Monday, August 5.
The resolution was passed after reports by the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) indicated that many barangays in the city were affected by the flooding during the weather disturbances.
“The flooding caused by the typhoon displaced numerous families from different barangays in the city, thereby disturbing their daily lives and affecting their means of livelihood. Thus necessitating the need for the city government of Las Piñas to provide immediate assistance,” the resolution read.
Aguilar said the predicament calls for a responsive program on the part of the city government so that immediate assistance will be delivered to the affected barangays and its constituents using the city's calamity funds.
