Snatcher arrested after Chinese victim chased him along Ayala Bridge
A snatcher was arrested after he snatched a phone from a Chinese man waiting for a public utility jeepney (PUJ) along Ayala Bridge in Manila on Tuesday, August 6.
Authorities said the snatcher was around 18 to 19 years old.
According to Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU), the victim was standing along the Ayala Bridge at 9 a.m. waiting for a passenger jeepney.
Motorists who witnessed the incident said that two men suddenly ran towards the Chinese victim, grabbed his phone from his hand, and continued running.
The victim then chased after the two suspects. Some motorcycle riders who saw the incident drove to the near intersection to seek help from the police and traffic enforcers.
Police in the area immediately responded and went to the Ayala Bridge where they met one of suspects.
They were able to arrest one of the suspects and recover the victim's cellphone.
They are still conducting a follow-up operation to locate the suspect who remains at large.
The suspects will face robbery charges, police said.
