Manila 3rd district Rep. Joel Chua didn't hold back on the zingers against Vice President Sara Duterte, as he called her out for being a wannabe "champion of the masses" and showbiz personality, among other things.
This, after the Vice President assailed in an open letter the Marcos government over the various problems confronting the people. She went as far to say that Filipinos "deserve better".
"The Vice President is misrepresenting herself as a champion of the masses using empty words and generalizations. All the while having nothing real and concrete to show for in terms of true results as Vice President and as Education Secretary,'" Chua said in a statement on Wednesday night, Aug. 7, a few hours after Duterte posted the letter on her social media.
"Siya ba'y komedyante, panay selfie, feeling artista, pero wala namang aktuwal na ginagawa?" asked Chua, who has recently joined the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party.
(Is she a comedian, a selfie hog, a showbiz star wannabe, but one who actually doesn't do anything?)
The Manila congressman further descrided Duterte as "feeling opposition" or an opposition wannabe.
Chua went on to ask much tougher questions to the country’s second highest-ranked official.
"Nasaan siya noong binubutas ng China Coast Guard (CCG) ang rubber boats ng mga Pinoy at sinasagasaan sa dagat ang fishing boats ng ating mga mangingisda?"
(Where was she when the CCG was puncturing the rubber boats of Filipinos and trampling their fishing boats at sea?)

(Where was she when Typhoon "Carina" was about to strike, when Mount Kanlaon erupted, when the Mindanao State University was bombed, when El Niño scorched the farmlands? Where was she when the Filipino, whom she supposedly loves, needed her?)
As a parting shot, Chua said: "Resulta dapat hindi kulto. Maka-Pilipino dapat, hindi yung nananahimik kapag China na ang isyu."
(Prioritize results, not the cult. Be pro-Filipino, and don't grow silent whenever the issue is China.)
Lakas-CMD is is the biggest coalition partner of President Marcos' party, the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.
