President Marcos on Wednesday, Aug. 7, welcomed the recent OCTA Research survey that showed the rise in “pro-Marcos” support among Filipinos.

In a media interview in Masantol, Pampanga on Wednesday, Aug. 7, the Chief Executive said he’s glad Filipinos understand what his administration is doing good right now.
“But I have to say that is nice to know that people are beginning to understand what we are trying to do,” he remarked.
Marcos attributed this to how his administration had been working to better the lives of Filipinos and not merely for good survey results.
“And I think that maybe because we really don't --- hindi kami nagde-decide dahil para sa magandang survey (we don’t decide for good survey),” he said.
“Nagde-decide kami para pagandahin ang buhay ng Pilipinas. Kaya't tuloy-tuloy ang mga --- ganun pa rin ang gagawin namin (We decide to improve the lives of the Philippines. That why we will continue to do that),” Marcos added.
But the President also admitted that while the survey result is “good news”, only analysts can say what the survey truly means.
An OCTA Research survey for the second quarter of 2024 showed that 36 percent of adult Filipinos identified as “pro-Marcos,” 16 percent as “pro-Duterte,” and 31 percent as “independents.”
This was an increase from the 31 percent who considered themselves “pro-Marcos” in the first quarter of 2024.
“Pro-Duterte” support, on the other hand, decreased from 20 percent in the first quarter.
The rift between Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte, who headlined the UniTeam in the 2022 national polls, grabbed headlines after the latter officially severed ties with the President’s Cabinet last month.
Though she did not specify the reasons, Duterte admitted she has personal and work issues with the President.
