Eumir Marcial vowed to get right back up after suffering an early exit to his medal bid in the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics.

Days after bowing out of contention, Marcial took to social media to reflect on what he and his team had gone through in their quest for another Olympic success.
“What a journey it has been for me and my team. We have to keep going and keep moving forward for growth and more learning,” said Marcial in a Facebook post on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
A bronze medalist in the Tokyo edition in the men’s 75kg class, Marcial moved up to the 80kg after his weight class was scrapped in the Paris Games.
He still qualified to the Olympics although he visibly struggled against bigger and lengthier opponents as he suffered a round-of-16 defeat against Uzbekistan's Turabek Khabibullaev.
“I am and always will be proud to represent our country at the biggest stage. This loss is not new to me. I’ve been knocked down so many times in the past, but I always get right back up,” said Marcial, who was later revealed to be playing through a rib injury.
With messages of support pouring in in the comment section, Marcial replied and vowed to bounce back once he fully heals from the injury.
Marcial, however, is at the crossroads of his career as he tries to weigh in whether he would still compete for a spot in the 2028 LA Olympics or will just focus on his budding professional career.
Meanwhile, in a separate post, Marcial consoled fellow Olympian EJ Obiena after he came tantalizingly close of landing into the podium of the pole vault event in athletics.
Obiena finished fourth in the competition after failing to clear the 5.95m bar. While he and third placer Emmanouil Karalis both cleared 5.90m, the Filipino lost via countback. Like Marcial, Obiena was once sidetracked by injuries in the lead-up to Paris.
