BACOLOD CITY – The City Health Office (CHO) reported the first fatality from suspected dengue in this city this year.
Dr. Grace Tan, head of the CHO Environment and Sanitation Division, said the patient was an 18-year-old woman from Barangay Estefania.

Tan said the patient started experiencing symptoms on July 17 and was admitted to a hospital four days later. The patient died on July 27, she added.
The CHO recorded 329 dengue cases in this city from January to July this year, 11.5 percent higher than the 295 cases with three deaths in the same period last year.
Barangay Taculing has the highest number of dengue cases with 44, followed by Barangay Bata with 31, Granada, 24; Estefania, 21; Mansilingan, 20; Villamonte, 18; Alijis, 17; Banago, 16; Cabug, 15; Sum-ag, 14; Mandalagan, 13, and Tangub, 12.
