Mobile kitchen serves hot meals to students as Malabon opens school year


The Malabon City government distributed hot meals to public school students on Tuesday, August 6.

Classes started a week later than the scheduled opening of classes due to Typhoon Carina.

Over 2,800 students from Malabon Elementary School and Malabon National High School were given hot meals through the city government’s mobile kitchen.

Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said that this new school year allows students to learn something new and to further hone their skills.

“Panibagong taon, panibagong pagkakataon para matuto, gumaling, at hasain ang galing ng ating mga mahal na Malabueñong kabataan. Importante ang edukasyon dahil ito ang maghahanda sa inyo sa iba’t ibang mga tatahakin ninyo sa buhay at careers (Another year, another opportunity to learn, heal, and hone the talents of our dear Malabueño youth. Education is important because it will prepare you for the different paths you will take in life and careers),” she said.

Sandoval assured that the local government is ready to assist the students in Malabon.

“Huwag ho kayong mag-alala, dahil ang pamahalaang lungsod ay handang umagapay kung may mga pangangailangan kayo. Lumapit lang ho kayo sa amin, kayong mga magulang,  at kami po ay tutulong upang mas mapabuti ang kalagayan ng inyong mga anak maging sa loob o labas man ng kanilang mga paaralan (Don't worry, because the city government is ready to help if you have any needs. Just come to us, you parents, and we will help to improve the condition of your children whether inside or outside their schools),” she added.

The Malabon School Divisions Office said that there are about 55, 608 enrollees in the city public schools, including 39,271 in Elementary, 14,758 in Junior High School, and 1,579 in Senior High School level for School Year 2024-2025 (as of July 17).

About 15,185 learners also enrolled in the city’s private schools with 2,270 in Elementary level, 3,277 in High School, and 9,638 in Senior High School.
