With the withdrawal, the 22-year-old Cabang closed out his Paris campaign after his maiden Olympic appearance last weekend in the preliminaries where he timed in 13.66 seconds to finish at sixth place.

"I [am so sorry]. I’m not gonna be able to run due to an injury,” Cabang wrote.

Still, the national record holder expressed his gratitude to his supporters.

“Thanks to all the people who supported me,” he added.

“Laban Pilipinas!”

Cabang, who earned his Paris ticket through World Athletics’ rankings, joined fellow track star Lauren Hoffman and pole vaulter EJ Obiena at the exit doors.

Hoffman did not reach the qualification of women’s 400-meter hurdle semifinal while Obiena fell short anew for a podium after settling for fourth spot.
