Embassy of Hungary holds scholarship orientation and Alumni Day

Led by Ambassador Titanilla Tóth, the Embassy of Hungary recently held this year’s Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship orientation in BGC, Taguig.
Stipendium Hungaricum is the Hungarian Government’s most prestigious higher education scholarship program that offers a wide range of courses for high-achieving international students with an excellent academic track record. The scholarship aims to support the internationalization of Hungarian higher education and its constant development to strengthen the international relations of the academic and research
community and it also promotes the good reputation and competitiveness of Hungarian higher education worldwide. The program, founded in 2013, is supervised by Hungary’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and managed by the Tempus Public Foundation.

In her welcome remarks, Ambassador Toth highlighted the importance of education and said, “Education is the most empowering force in the world. It creates knowledge, builds confidence, and breaks down barriers to opportunity. That is why Hungary established the Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program which helps attract top international students from all around the world who can establish personal and professional links to Hungary and each other while enjoying high-quality education in the heart of Europe.”
She shared that during the past decade, the Stipendium program has become a brand in its own right, demonstrating the quality and competitiveness of Hungarian higher education. Thousands of foreign students apply for higher educational studies in Hungary, and this year they experienced a 16 percent increase in the number of aspirants compared to 2023.

Currently, over 90 sending partners are engaged in the program from five continents, attracting more than 5,000 international students each year. Applicants are offered more than 800 full degree programs in English, covering all higher education fields at all degree levels, including part-time and doctoral courses.
With more than 66,000 applications received from Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, and South America, the top five most popular fields of study for the year 2024 to 2025 are Engineering Studies, Computer Science and Information Technology, Health Science, Economic Science, and Natural Science.
At the same event, five alumni, who are the best examples of the success of this initiative, were present. Sharing their experiences of being a student in Hungary were Fritz Dustin M. Fiedalan of the University of Debrecen Batch 2021, Dianne Joy D. Aguilon of the University of Szege Batch 2021, Diosdado B. Lopega of the Corvinus University of Budapest Batch 2019, Amalia G. Obusan of the University of Debrecen Batch 2021, and Venes Banquiles of the University of Miskolc Batch 2021.
