Cignal and Akari battle on Tuesday, Aug. 6, in a clash of two unbeatean teams seeking to extend their winning streaks in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.

Match is set at 1 p.m. at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City with the HD Spikers and the Chargers expecting a thrilling affair after the two teams already secured spots in the second round as leaders of their group following identical 4-0 win-loss records.
Both squads are coming off straight-set wins in their last match, with the HD Spikers sweeping the defending champion Petro Gazz Angels in straight sets, and the Chargers also dumping winless ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles.
Also out to keep their momentum were the Capital1 Solar Spikers (2-2) when they tussel cellar dweller ZUS Coffee (0-4) at 3 p.m., and Petro Gazz against Choco Mucho, both with 1-3 cards, at 5 p.m.
Cignal coach Shaq Delos Santos remains wary of Akari, which overcame its two-set deficit and eventually took the win over Petro Gazz and Choco Mucho.
“Syempre yung performance ng Akari pag titignan natin parang relax sila maglaro pero pag dating ng dulo, dalawang game sila nag reverse sweep,” said Delos Santos.
“Hindi madaling gawin yun kaya kailangan naming paghandaan ‘yon and pagaralan ‘yon, and kailangan i-maximize yung strength ng team namin,” he added.
As expected, Venezuelan MJ Perez, Ces Molina and Jackie Acuna will spearhead the HD Spikers against the Chargers’ Olouma Okaro, Ivy Lacsina, Grethcel Soltones and Ced Domingo.
Meanwhile, Marina Tushova, who broke Priscilla Rivera’s 44-point output two years ago, is leading Capital1 when it meets Asaka Tamaru and the Thunderbelles hoping to barge in the winning column.
In the final pairing, the Flying Titans will lean on Greek Zoi Faki and veteran Dindin Santiago-Manabat as they challenge the Angels which have MVP Brooke Van Sickle and Wilma Salas at the forefront.
