Hoffman, 25, clocked 58.28 seconds – much slower than her 57.84sec in the first round – to settle for seventh place.

In her bracket, hometown bet Shana Grebo (54.91) and Ukraine's Anna Ryzhykova (54.95) took the two slots.

The seven top hurdlers in three repechages are barging into the semifinal round where world record holder and reigning gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone of USA and Tokyo silver winner Femke Bol of the Netherlands are expected to reach the finals anew.

Meanwhile, Spain-based John Cabang Tolentino will try his luck in the repechage of the men’s 110m hurdles Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the same venue.
