After snaring a second gold medal in the men’s artistic gymnastics vault finals on Sunday, Aug. 4, more rewards and monetary incentives are expected to come Yulo’s way.
Apart from the earlier reported P10 million that Yulo was already entitled for after winning the gold medal in the floor exercise, another P10 million should also be added into his haul after bagging the gold in the vault finals and becoming the very first Filipino athlete to win multiple gold medals in a single Olympics.
Those are still under the Republic Act 10699 or National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act along with a medal of valor to be given
On top of that, property giant Megaworld, which initially pledged a fully furnished two-bedroom condominium unit worth P24 in Mckinley Hill in Bonifacio Global City, upgraded the package into a three-bedroom unit amounting to P32 million on top of a P3 million cash incentive following Yulo’s double gold feat.
"Since this is a very significant milestone in the history of Philippine sports to have two gold Olympic medals during our 100th year participation as a country in the Olympics, which also coincides with our company's 35th anniversary this year, we are boosting our reward for Carlos Yulo now totaling P35 million,” said Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso, president of Megaworld.
"He truly deserves this and we will always be proud of him for taking Filipino excellence to the next level," she added.
Likewise, the House of Representatives, which first announced a P3 million incentive, also doubled its reward to P6 million.
Bounty Group Agro Ventures, the company behind Chooks-to-Go, also pledged to give Yulo P3 million cash prize.
The SM Group of the Sy family is set to give P1 million worth of products from SM retail, department stores consumable for one year while Apollo pledged P100,000 worth of furniture.
Vikings had already announced that it is giving a lifetime free buffet on any of its branches and few other restaurant chains followed suit with Tipsy Pig also giving lifetime free food and drinks while Don Macchiatos is giving a free franchise of its stalls.
