Francia indicated that the innovative offers in the retail power market mirrors the liberalization of the telecommunications industry in the 1990s which enabled players in that space then to extend not just mobile phone connectivity but also other value-added services beneficial to the end-users, like the internet and eventually e-wallets as well as various apps that are now making life easier for end-users.
The Ayala group will be dangling a bundled package of renewable energy (RE) and electric vehicles (EVs) in its offer of contracts to targeted customers in the space being served by retail electricity suppliers (RES) in the restructured power sector.
With its suite of service-offers that will not just address sustainability and net zero goals of its customers, the tandem of ACEN Corporation and AC Mobility in the Ayala conglomerate is also expected to intensify competition in the retail competition and open access (RCOA) regime of the industry.
Packaged as RESURGENCE, which refers to the convergence of RE, sustainability and electric mobility, ACEN President and CEO Eric T.
“Part of the convergence element is one special thing: the mobility, because in the spirit of playing a leading role in the energy transition … we really started to push renewables here in the last decade, so it’s similar thing with the EV,” the ACEN executive noted.
He qualified that if RE and EV will be amalgamated in their offer to customers, the resulting price that the customers would get would also be more cost-competitive, aside from making their own noble contribution to planetary preservation.
Francia expounded that AC Mobility, which is the transport solutions company of the Ayala group, has already been broadening the rollout of EVs in the country – along with various original equipment manufacturer-partners like Chinese firm BYD, South Korean firm Kia as well as German carmaker Volkswagen.
The ACEN executive opined that while the telco companies of the 1990s had reshaped people’s lives with the internet and other technological revolution, the Ayala group believes that the same thing could happen in the convergence of RE and EV in the RES space – not just in the global goal to abate climate change risks, but to finally realize consumers’ long time bid for cheaper electricity rates.
He emphasized that currently, there are two powerful trends that command urgent and unwavering attention from the policymakers and regulators, and more importantly, on the part of the consumers themselves.
By combining service offers from renewables and EVs, the ACEN executive said the Ayala group will be carving a new pathway in its delivery of genuine and trailblazing green solutions to the customer -- because even their EV chargers will have to be powered by RE-generated supply.
“It's not just having a large and fast-growing renewable energy product – or suite of products, but also the ability to bring in the different capabilities and offerings of the Ayala Group,” he stressed.
ACEN is among the major players in the RES realm, or that segment in the industry that bestows ‘power of choice’ to the consumers when it comes to contracting for their power supply – and that will also give them a free hand to negotiate for a price that will fit their budgets as well as the value-added services that shall be integrated in their procurement – be it for energy efficiency, supply sourcing from RE capacities or even with EVs, similar to what the Ayala group has been introducing to its RES patrons.
