A total of 21,282 relief packs have been distributed by the offices of Speaker Martin Romualdez and Tingog Party-list in their relief operations for Typhoon "Carina" victims, which was concluded over the weekend.
The relief packs were distributed to affected people in 17 affected areas in Metro Manila and Calabarzon, with the last relief pack given away last Friday, Aug. 2.
"The immediate response of Tingog Party-list is a testament to our sincerity and dedication to serving the Filipino people. We stand with our fellow citizens in these challenging times and are committed to alleviating their suffering," said Tingog Party-list Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), said the aftermath of Carina has been tragic; 14 people died, while over a million people were affected. Metro Manila was placed under a state of calamity, which significantly disrupted economic activities.
House Speaker Martin Romualdez took a hands-on approach as he personally led the relief operations team and visited flood victims in designated evacuation centers in San Juan City and various areas of Quezon City.
His presence along with Tingog Party-list Rep. Jude Acidre, who operated a mobile kitchen, underscored the gravity of the situation and the commitment of the government to support its citizens in times of need.
As the relief operation drew to a close, the final batch of relief packs was distributed to 1,000 affected families in San Mateo and Montalban both in Rizal.
The coordinated efforts of Tingog Party-list, Speaker Romualdez, and President Marcos, Jr. highlighted the government’s continued commitment to prioritizing the welfare of the marginalized and delivering prompt, quality service to the Filipino people.
