Kabankalan Catholic College bags second straight Udyakan street dance crown
BACOLOD CITY – The Kabankalan Catholic College (KCC) in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental won the Udyakan Festival street dance and arena competition for the second straight year.

KCC bested 14 other contingents in this year’s festival that coincided with the city’s 27th Charter Day anniversary on Friday, August 2.
They also won best in promotional video, choreography, tribal banner, production design, and street dance parade.
In a statement posted on their Facebook page, the school said that these accolades reflect the institution's commitment to artistic excellence and their ability to consistently deliver performances that captivate and inspire.
“The KCC’s performance stood out for its meticulous attention to detail and theatrical flair, embodying the true spirit of the Udyakan Festival,” the school said.
First runner-up was Kabankalan National High School and Tapi National High School was second runner-up.
Tampalon National High School was third runner-up and Tan-awan National High School was fourth runner-up.
Kabankalan Mayor Benjie Miranda said that he was happy and grateful for all the graces that the city received amid the past challenges.
Miranda said that they have improved the festivity and made some innovations for people to enjoy.
The mayor noted the support and cooperation of the 32 barangays in making the festival successful and making the city progressive.
He thanked the city council led by Vice Mayor Miguel Zayco and the school division for their support.
Miranda is hopeful that the city will continue to aim high in many years to come.
The Udyakan Festival is a week-long celebration, which include an agro-industrial fair, that showcases the indigenous products of farmers.
KCC won the title in 2019. The competition was halted by the pandemic in 2020 and 2021. It resumed in 2022 with a different school winning the title.
KCC regained the crown in 2023.
