Three men who stole a motorcycle and allegedly raped a female victim were arrested in Tanay, Rizal, during a hot pursuit operation on Saturday, August 3.
The Rizal Police Provincial Office (PPO) identified the suspects as “Jojo,” “Jerry,” and "Jason”.
The suspects were nabbed following the operation conducted by the Provincial Intelligence Unit and Tanay Municipal Police Station (MPS).
According to Rizal PPO, at around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, August 2, the two victims riding a motorcycle were traveling along Sampaloc Road in Tanay, Rizal, when the three suspects intercepted them and forcibly took the motorcycle.
Authorities added that the suspects also abducted the female victim.
She later reported that one of the suspects raped her in an empty house in Baras, Rizal.
The victim said that the suspects threatened to kill her if she reported the incident to the authorities.
However, she managed to report to Tanay MPS after the suspects left her in Teresa, Rizal.
On Saturday evening, Tanay MPS received information on the possible location of the suspects.
The Rizal Provincial Intelligence Unit immediately conducted a hot-pursuit operation in collaboration with Tanay MPS, resulting in the arrest of the three suspects and the recovery of the victim's motorcycle.
The suspects are now detained in Tanay Municipal Custodial Facility and are facing charges of carnapping and forced abduction with rape.
Meanwhile, Rizal PPO director PCol. Felipe Maraggun once again reminded the public to be careful with their belongings and to stay alert to their surroundings.
He encouraged the public to immediately report any incident or crime so that the police could respond promptly.
