P2.4-M marijuana destroyed in Ilocos Sur

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – Police destroyed 12,000 fully grown marijuana plants valued at a total of P2.4 million in two plantations on Mount Bilis, Barangay Licungan, Sugpon, Ilocos Sur on Friday, August 30.
Police Brig. Gen. Lou F. Evangelista, Ilocos police chief, said 7,200 FGMP worth P1.4 million was seized in the first plantation with a land area of 900-square meters.

A total of 4,800 FGMP valued at P960,000 was found in the second plantation with a land area of 600-square meters.
Herbicides were sprayed in the plantations to prevent the growth of marijuana plants.
Evangelista lauded operatives for their accomplishments.
"This accomplishment is a clear message that we will continue to take aggressive action against drug traffickers and their operations. We will intensify our illegal drug supply reduction strategies and will exert efforts to apprehend cultivators of illegal plantation," he said.
He urged people with information on illegal drug activities to report them to the police.
