Mayor Honey gives P2,000 cash assistance to barangay tanods

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan led the distribution of P2,000 cash assistance to thousands of barangay tanods in the city.

The mayor along with Vice Mayor John Marvin "Yul Servo" Nieto handed to the barangay tanods the cash assistance coming from President Bongbong Marcos, Jr. and House Speaker Martin Romualdez in recognition of their hard work and dedication. 

Mayor Lacuna-Pangan assured thousands of barangay tanods in the city that the local government will always honor their contribution to and sacrifices for the city's peace and order.

The mayor was assisted by Manila Department of Social Welfare chief Re Fugoso, Barangay 497 Chairman Bong Marzan, Dr. Dianne Nieto and Christian Floirendo during the awarding of P2,000 to each of the beneficiaries at the San Andres Sports Complex. 

She said the city of Manila has 896 barangays with at least 10 tanods each.

In her short message, the local chief executive relayed to the tanods how President Marcos, Jr. and Speaker Romualdez readily assured help to her administration and noting her sentiment that barangay tanods are usually being left behind in terms of benefit. 

"Alam na alam naman po ninyo na ang Maynila ay kapos sa pondo, dahil marami tayong utang na binabayaran.  Sa tulong po nina President Bongbong at Speaker Romualdez ay pwede pong dagdagan ang mga ibinababang ayuda sa city of Manila (You know very well that Manila is short on funds, because we have a lot of debt to pay. With the help of President Bongbong and Speaker Romualdez, it is possible to increase the aid to the city of Manila)," she said.

The mayor once again expressed profound gratitude to the President and House speaker for their full support to her administration.

The lady mayor noted that the barangay tanods are the ones usually at the forefront of dangerous and hazardous incidents taking place in barangays.

"Sino ba lagi ang pagod?  Sino ba ang laging puyat? Sino ang lagi na lang namemeligro ang buhay kababantay? Sino ang maliit ang nakukuhang sweldo? Kaya sabi ko, tanod lagi ang huling pinapatawag, kaya ngayon kayo naman muna. Wag kayo mag-alala dahil lahat ng pupuwede naming maiibigay, ibibigay dahi deserve n'yo 'yan. Hnding-hindi ko kayo pababayaan...hinding-hindi ko kayo iiwan (Who is always tired? Who is always awake? Who is always risking his life as a guard? Who gets a small salary? That's why I said, the guard is always the last to be called, so now you are the first. Don't worry because everything we can give, we will give because you deserve it. I will never neglect you...I will never leave you)," she assured.
