A "bridge of assistance" for parents of senior high school students.

That's how Iloilo 1st district Rep. Janette Garin described the Tulong Eskwela Program (School Assistance Program) which has held in various parts of the country for two days, on Aug. 30 and 31.

"Hindi ito simpleng ayuda lang, ito ay isang tulay na ginawa ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos at [House] Speaker Martin Romualdez, tulay ng tulong para sa mga magulang at SHS students, tungo sa kanilang mas progresibong kinabukasan," Garin, a deputy majority leader in the House of Representatives, said on Saturday, Aug. 31.

(This is no simple ayuda, this is a bridge built by President Bongbong Marcos and Speaker Martin Romualdez, a bridge of assistance for our parents and SHS students toward their progressive future.)

"The beauty here is 'yung ating gobyerno ay tinutulungan 'yung mga magulang ng ating senior high school students," Garin added.

(The beauty here is that the government is helping out the parents of our senior high school students.)

The initiative--hatched by Speaker Romualdez--was launched simultaneously in 220 areas in all provinces nationwide. Each area has 3,000 parents of SHS students chosen as beneficiaries.

Cash aid or "ayuda" of up to P5,000 were received by the parent-beneficiaries. The program was held in cooperation with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Moreover, it  was designed to provide employment opportunities for the families of the students.

"'Yung mga magulang or guardians or even 'yung working students ng senior high school ay nagkakaroon ng biyaya. 'Yung mga maglilinis ng school premises, gagawa ng garden, ide-decongest 'yung mga drainage sa paligid ng mga schools ay magkakaroon ng TUPAD program," the Iloilo First District Representative said.

(Blessings await the parents or guardian's or even the working students in senior high school. Those who clean school premises, tend to the garden, and decongest drainages around schools will benefit from the TUPAD program.)

The lawmaker advised the students to do their part and study well to ensure a great future.
