3 robbers slain in Quezon


SAN ANTONIO, Quezon – Three suspected robbers were killed in Sitio Bukal, Barangay Sinturisan, this town, at dawn on Friday, August 30.

A security guard approached patrolling policemen and reported that a robbery incident occurred inside the San Antonio Ville Subdivision involving four unidentified men.

Jeyrenol de Chavez told police that he accosted the suspects who were entering an unoccupied unit but one of them drew and pointed a gun at him.

De Chavez ran and sought help from people attending a wake in the area. His brother, Jayson, arrived and one of the suspects appeared and pointed a gun at him.

People attending the wake proceeded to help the De Chavez brothers, prompting the suspects to flee into a forested area in Barangay San Jose here.

Residents and tanods (watchmen) of a nearby barangay chased the suspects until Barangay Sinturisan where a gun battle occurred that resulted in the death of three suspects. The fourth managed to flee.

The remains of the suspects were recovered at 11:20 a.m.  

Lucena City

Meanwhile, a 63-year-old man was killed during a robbery in a hardware store in Purok 7, Barangay Dalahican, Lucena City, this province, on Friday morning.

Police identified the victim as Elmer Larracas.

Larracas’ body was found by his daughter in the parking area with bruises on his knees and a nylon cord beside him.

The establishment was robbed of its cash sales. 

Calamba City

A 45-year-old man was gunned down in Barangay Bagong Kalsada in Calamba City, Laguna on Friday.

Police identified the victim as Tugis of Barangay Masili, Calamba City.

A witness, Ting-Ting, 41, heard gunshots and saw the victim lying on the road near his motorcycle.

Ting-Ting sought assistance from the Barangay Public Safety Office who contacted the police.

Lawmen are conducting follow-up investigation on these incidents.
