PCG: Families claim bodies of 3 deceased passengers in Antique sea mishap

The remains of the three passengers who died in a sea mishap in Caluya, Antique earlier this week have already been claimed by their relatives, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Friday, Aug. 30.
The PCG said the families retrieved their departed loved ones’ bodies at the municipal hall of Looc, Romblon on Aug. 29, days after motorbanca MBCA Ure Mae and an unnamed boat capsized in the vicinity waters of Caluya while carrying 20 individuals last Aug. 26.
The families requested not to publish that the names of the deceased, according to the PCG.
Meanwhile, search and rescue (SAR) operations were ongoing to find the seven passengers who went missing due to the incident. They were identified as Christian Aguilar, Vic Florendo, Roel Delloro, Joseph Delloro, Frankie Gajero, Rosauro Delloro, and Zaldy Pacis.
The PCG deployed BRP Cape San Agustin (MRRV-4408) to lead the SAR efforts.
Ten others were rescued by the authorities, including boat captains Junald Patricio and Alvin Salodes.
The PCG said that a male survivor was picked up by his family on Aug. 29, while nine others were transported by BRP Kalanggaman (FPB-2404) from San Jose, Romblon early Friday morning.
The two motorboats departed Boracay Island around 4 a.m. of Aug. 26 en route to Caluya Island when they encountered big waves and inclement weather.
This caused the two vessels to capsize three hours later.
Survivors shared that some of them drifted to San Jose, Romblon and swam to the nearest shoreline to seek for help.
