The city governments of Parañaque and Pasay signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the construction of the “Bagong Baclaran Market” to be located along the Redemptorist Water Channel between Roxas Boulevard and Macapagal Avenue, Parañaque City.

The MoU was signed by Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez, Rep. Edwin Olivarez , Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairman Atty. Don Artes, and Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) Chairperson Alexander Lopez. The lawmaker's chief of staff Atty. Ding Soriano and Parañaque City administrator Atty. Voltaire dela Cruz were also present during the signing.

The groundbreaking of the project will be held within the year as the parties are still finalizing the market's plans and specifications.

According to Rep. Olivarez, the project will cost P1.2 billion, with P800 million coming from the MMDA and P400 million from Parañaque.

Pasay will be given 30 percent of the vendor stalls because 1/3 of the water channel is within its jurisdiction.

Mayor Olivarez said the project aims to build a modern, clean, and well organized place for vendors.
