P1.7-M smuggled cigarettes found in Zamboanga del Norte


ZAMBOANGA CITY – Smuggled cigarettes valued at P1.7 million were found floating on the coastline of Barangay Kayok, Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte on Thursday, August 29.

Police retrieved the contraband after receiving a report from a concerned citizen.

The abandoned tobacco products were sent to the Zamboanga del Norte Maritime Station for documentation before turn over to the  Bureau of Customs for safekeeping. 

Police Regional Office-9 Director Police Brig. Gen. Bowenn Joey Masauding commended residents for their vigilance and reiterated his support to efforts to secure and keep the community safe.
