TACLOBAN CITY – The 78th Infantry Battalion recently discovered a New People’s Army arms cache in the mountainous Barangay Antipolo, Llorente, Eastern Samar.

Lt. Col. Joseph Bugaoan, commanding officer of the 78th IB, said they found a rifle grenade, ammunition, four handheld radios, and other equipment through the tip of a concerned citizen.
Bugaoan said these belong to the remnants of Apoy Platoon, Sub-regional Committee-Sesame, Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee (EVRPC).
He attributed the accomplishment to the proactive measures of the people in safeguarding their community in collaboration with former members of the Apoy Platoon.
Brig. Gen. Noel Vestuir, commander of the 802nd Infantry Brigade, commended troops for working hand-in-hand with the people in the pursuit of lasting peace in the area.
He also thanked the people for their cooperation and deep concern for their community and former communist rebels for their commitment and support to the local peace engagements of the local government unit.
