Man shot dead in Basilan checkpoint

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A man was shot dead after he fired at lawmen manning a checkpoint in Akbar, Basilan on Thursday, August 29.

Police identified the suspect as Said Jalil Anjalin, alias Robin.

Investigation said that the motorcycle-riding suspect refused to stop and even tried to drive faster after spotting the checkpoint.

Anjalin allegedly fired at lawmen manning the checkpoint, prompting them to return fire and hit the suspect.

The suspect died from multiple bullet wounds. Police recovered the .45 caliber pistol used by the suspect.
