TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Health-Eastern Visayas Center for Health Development
has reported 9,577 dengue cases and 21 deaths so far this year, a 264 percent increase compared to the same period last year with 2,630 cases and nine fatalities.

Leyte has the highest number of cases with 2,951 or 31 percent of the region's total.
Majority of affected individuals were males, particularly those aged one to 10-years-old.
There has been a reported decline in cases in Morbidity Week 34 with 976 compared to 1,456 in Week 33.
Despite this decline, the DOH-EVCHD urged the public to remain vigilant and intensify efforts to prevent dengue transmission.
It encouraged hospitals and health facilities to ensure the availability of dengue fast lanes, sufficient healthcare providers, and necessary dengue commodities and medicines to ensure prompt service delivery.
Local government units (LGUs) and partner agencies were urged to actively participate in the fight against dengue by supporting anti-dengue activities, strengthening surveillance measures, and providing necessary resources to health facilities.
