Scattered rains to persist in Palawan, most of Visayas; isolated rain showers to prevail in the rest of PH
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday, Aug. 4 said the southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat,” may continue to affect parts of the country and bring rains to some areas over the next 24 hours.
In its 4 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the habagat may bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, and Palawan.
PAGASA warned of potential flash floods or landslides, particularly during moderate to heavy rainfall in these areas.
The prevalence of the habagat may also result in partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas and Mindanao.
Meanwhile, similar weather conditions are anticipated across the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms.
The public is advised to stay alert for possible flash floods or landslides, especially during severe thunderstorms.
Moreover, Weather Specialist Grace Castañeda said that PAGASA is monitoring cloud clusters east of the country, which are currently outside the Philippine area of responsibility, for possible development into a low pressure area in the coming days.
She advised the public to keep monitoring PAGASA’s updates on this potential weather disturbance and stay informed about its possible impacts on the country.
