Gaining success during the pandemic, Matthaios became a staple in the music scene, going on to collaborate with Disney for "Trust Again," a song featured in the film "Raya and The Last Dragon."

The 25-year-old college student from Saint Benilde is now bent on experimentation.

Having notched hits with upbeat songs like "Binibini," "Catriona," and "Vibe with Me", Matthaios took a leap of faith, sharing with fans a new, more mature sound with his single "Tayo Sana" ft. Yow Andrada.

During an intimate press conference held at Romulo Cafe in Quezon City on August 13, Matthaios shared what made him decide to explore and try a new sound.

"Actually ang gusto ko po gawin this year is more on experimentation, and of course tumatanda, so kailangan na nagma-mature na rin kahit papaano yung music ko. Hindi pwede na paulit-ulit lang, that's why I really want to collaborate wtih other artist," Matthaios said.

(Actually what I want to do this year is more on experimentation, and of course, I'm getting older, so my music needs to mature somehow. It can't just keep on repeating myself, that's why I really want to collaborate with other artists)

Matthaios also shared how it was collaborating with Yow Andrada from Team Payaman on the song.

"Honestly speaking mabilis lang po siya, and it was so light kasi friends na kami. It all started lang as a hum. Biglang sabi ni Yow, gumawa kami ng song," he added.

(Honestly speaking, it was quick, and it was so light because we're friends. It all started as a hum. It was Yow who suddenly suggested that we should write a song)

It doesn't matter to Matthaios if the song won't make it big, he is proud of the work that he and Yow did.

"Kasi ang ka-work ko ay friend ko and ang ganda ng gawa namin, kaya proud ako dito. Para sa akin mag hit man or hindi, I'm really proud of this one," he said.

(Because I worked with it with a friend and it is beautiful, so I'm proud of it. For me, whether it's a hit or not, I'm really proud of this one)

“Tayo Sana” will resonate with anyone who has ever hoped for a second chance in a relationship.

The poignant lyrics reflect a story of love and regret, capturing the essence of what it means to wait for someone special.

Working with Asintada, collaborating with Sarah Geronimo

Entering a new era, Matthaios gave his warmest thanks to Asintada for making him part of the team.

"Hindi ko ine-expect na mabibigyan ako ng chance to work with Asintada, kasi nagkaroon ako ng time na wala akong management and ma'am Thea was just helping me out. But right now, I think I'm in the right place," he said.

(I didn't expect to be given a chance to work with Asintada, because there was a time when I didn't have management and ma'am Thea was just helping me out. But right now, I think I'm in the right place)

Matthaios dreams of collaborating with Sarah Geronimo.

"Gusto ko po talaga si Sarah Geronimo. Idol kasi yun ng mama ko, syempre napapakinggan ko na rin siya. hindi ko lang siya idol pagdating sa music, kasi parang tumagos na rin siya sa movies. Kahit saan mo siya ilagay ang galing niya. Naiinspire din ako sa galaw niya," he said.

(I really like Sarah Geronimo. Because she's my mom's idol, of course, I've heard her songs. She's not just my idol when it comes to music, but also because she also dived into doing movies. No matter where you put her, she's great. I am inspired by her moves)
