Marcos names ex-Lipa mayor Sabili as urban poor commission chair
President Marcos has appointed former Lipa mayor Meynardo Sabili as chairperson of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor.

Sabili took his oath of office on Wednesday, Aug. 28, before Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
Sabili, 67, is a politician and businessman who served as mayor of Lipa, Batangas from 2010 to 2019.
He previously served as the member of the Batangas Provincial Board from the 4th District from 1991 until 2001.
Sabili won the 2010 election as mayor in 2010. Sabili participated in the two elections in 2013 and 2016 elections, where he was re-elected for his second and third term.
After his nine-year tenure as Lipa's chief executive, he was appointed as undersecretary of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD).
On the same day, Bersamin also administered the oathtaking of Stephen Cruz as chairman of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Postal Corporation.
