Valenzuela, QC LGUs evacuate families affected by flood


The local governments of Valenzuela and Quezon cities evacuated a total of 42 families affected by the flooding in their areas on Wednesday, August 28.

In Valenzuela City, 33 families were relocated to Bartolome Covered Court in Barangay Veinte Reales and Valenzuela National High School in Barangay Marulas.

To accommodate the pets of evacuees, the City Veterinary Office set up designated animal shelters within the evacuation centers.

It added that the office of Senator Imee Marcos also assisted in distributing hot meals and nutribuns to the affected residents.

The local government kept the public informed by issuing regular flood advisories for various areas in the city.

The local government also issued flood advisory updates on several areas in the city.

As of 9:20 a.m., the following areas in Valenzuela were passable to all types of vehicles :


Macarthur Highway

-BDO Dalandanan - 2-3 inches

-Jollibee, Dalandanan boundary of Malanday - 10-12 inches


Maysan-Paso de Blas -NLEX- Bagbaguin


-Pio Val. Marulas (Subsided)

- G. Lazaro H.S Dalandanan (1-2 inches)

- VCEH Dalandanan (2-3 inches)

- Rincon Boundary Pasolo (3-4 inches)

However, the Bypass in Barangay Veinte Reales was not passable to light vehicles

Meanwhile, the Quezon City government evacuated 9 families or 27 individuals from Districts 2 and 5.

“Bilang pag-iingat sa pagbaha na dulot ng malakas na pag-ulan, mayroong itinalagang evacuation sites sa mga piling lugar na bahain o may banta ng landslide para sa ligtas at mabilis na evacuation ng humigit-kumulang 9 na pamilya o 27 na indibidwal sa ating lungsod (As a precaution against flooding caused by heavy rains, designated evacuation sites have been set up in selected flood-prone areas or those at risk of landslides to ensure the safe and swift evacuation of approximately 9 families or 27 individuals in our city),” the city government said on a Facebook post. 

As of 11 a.m., the following areas in Quezon City had reported flood levels:

-Lower Mangga St.  - Waist Deep

-Middle Mangga St. - Gutter Deep


Barangay Masambong 

-Capuas St. - Knee Deep

-Malasimbo - Knee Deep


Barangay Damayang Lagi

-Blk 1, Blk 2, Blk 3, Blk 4 and Blk 5 - Knee Deep


Barangay Apolonio Samson 

-Kaingin Bukid- Waist Deep

-Lorraine - Knee Deep


Barangay Talayan 

-Maria Clara - Not Passable

-Retiro - Not Passable

-Caraballo - Passable

 

Barangay Del Monte

-Riverside -  Waist Deep

 

Barangay Bahay Toro

-Road 22 -  Knee Deep

 

Barangay Commonwealth

-Upper Nawasa Purok 1 Peacock St. - Knee Deep
