Senate releases Jojo Nones from its custody

The Senate on Wednesday, August 28 has released Jojo Nones, the independent contractor who was allegedly involved in actor Sandro Muhlach’s reported rape case.

Senate President Francis Escudero signed the release order of Nones late Wednesday afternoon. Nones was cited in contempt by the Senate due to his refusal to answer pertinent questions regarding the incident.

This development came after Nones wrote an apology to Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada over his disrespectful behavior during the hearing of the committee on public information and mass media on the issue last Tuesday.

Estrada said he wrote Senator Robin Padilla, the chairperson of the said committee that he won’t object to the lifting of his order of arrest and detention if the committee recommends it for "humanitarian considerations."

Estrada also said he accepts the written apology sent by Nones and is also cognizant of Nones physical and mental health concerns.

"I recognize that my words and tone may have come across as disrespectful and I deeply regret allowing my emotions to get the best of me," Nones said in his letter to Estrada.

"The anxiety and stress I've been experiencing due to my detention unfortunately clouded my judgment and I did not express myself in the matter intended. Please know that it was never my intention to be disrespectful to you or the Senate," he added.

Estrada reprimanded Nones after he repeatedly refused to answer questions after Sandro narrated his ordeal.

The senator even suggested to Nones to get a court order so he could be released by the Senate.
