The Rizal provincial government’s mass blood donation drive held recently in Binangonan, Rizal yielded around 500,000 ml of blood.
Binangonan Mayor Cesar Ynares said around 1,100 bags were collected during the Sagip Buhay Blood Donation Program initiated by the provincial government and hosted by the local government of Binangonan on Monday, August 26 at the Casimiro Ynares, Sr. Auditorium.
Each bag contains a maximum of 450 milliliters of blood.
The blood donors, numbering around 1,125 volunteers, came from the town’s 40 barangays both in the mainland and Talim Island.

Binangonan Municipal Administrator Russel Ynares said the blood letting activity was part of the celebration of the birthday of former Rizal Governor Casimiro ‘Ito” Ynares, Jr., who is a native of Binangonan.
The official said the blood-letting event was not only a donation drive but also a contest among the donors as the barangays with the most number of volunteer donors brought home prizes such as motorbikes and sacks of rice.
Leading the blood donors were from Barangay Pag-asa; followed by Barangay Macamot; Talim Island; Darangan and Lunsad.

Ynares said the program benefited the blood bank of the Rizal Provincial Hospital System- Margarito A. Duavit Memorial Hospital, a provincial-government run hospital where needy Binangonan residents go to for their medical treatment including their request for blood.
The August 26 blood letting event in Binangonan was the biggest blood donation activity in the municipality for this year so far.
