The Pasay City government hosted the 12th Global Youth Summit held at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena on Tuesday, August 27.

Peter Pardo, chief-of-staff of Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, said the summit held was in coordination with SM Cares and Global Peace Foundation.

More than 10,000 youths attended the event that focuses on sustainable development goals (SDG) adopted by the United Nations (UN).

The SDG is a universal call of the UN to end poverty, protect the planet, and for all people to enjoy peace and prosperity by the year 2030.

Pardo explained the SDG was also designed not only to end poverty but also hunger, AIDS, and discrimination against women and girls.

The official said participants were given the chance to discuss their goals, share their ideas and work together in creating sustainable solutions to problems and challenges affecting the youth.
