Missing teen from Bacolod tortured before she was killed, police say
BACOLOD CITY – A missing 15-year-old girl from this city was tortured before her death, autopsy result released on Tuesday, August 27, said.

Police Capt. Rosinie Cabuena, deputy chief of the La Carlota City Police Station in Negros Occidental, said the 15-year-old victim suffered blunt trauma to the head, neck, chest, stomach, and upper and lower extremities of her body, which caused her death.
The autopsy result came out two weeks after the Grade 10 student from Barangay Sum-ag here was found lifeless in a sugarcane field in Barangay Cubay on August 14.
Cabuena, however, said that it could not be established if there was sexual assault, as the victim was already in the advanced state of decomposition.
The victim was reported missing by her family at Police Station 9 here on July 30, a day after she was last seen attending a half-day class in her school here.
The victim’s stepfather recently surfaced to clear the allegations linking him to the incident and sought protective custody with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Bacolod.
He said is innocent and only came forward out of concern for his safety and that of his family.
He said that he was in Iloilo when his stepdaughter was found dead, following a disagreement with his live-in partner, the victim’s mother, but he noted that he remained in constant communication with her.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Bacolod, which is conducting a separate investigation, tagged the stepfather as a person of interest but recently upgraded him as a suspect, citing evidence that linked him to the crime.
Despite the stepfather’s appearance, Cabuena said that they are not ruling out the possibility that other individuals may have been involved in the crime.
“We’re working hard in coordination with Police Station 9 to be able to identify the suspect and other possible perpetrators involved based on evidence,” she added.
Cabuena said they are reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage to get solid evidence.
She declined to comment on the progress of the investigation but assured that they are doing their best to solve the case as soon as possible to give justice to the victim.
Mayor Albee Benitez offered P50,000 cash reward for any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrator.
