The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 28 that the water level at La Mesa Dam in Quezon City has returned to normal after spilling due to overnight monsoon rains.
As of 5 p.m., PAGASA said the dam’s water level was 80.12 meters, which is below the dam’s spilling level of 80.15 meters.
Earlier, La Mesa Dam had reached 80.20 meters at around 8 a.m.
With the current water level, PAGASA said there is no longer a significant risk of flooding in low-lying areas along the Tullahan River, which includes parts of Quezon City (Fairview, Forest Hills Subdivision, Quirino Highway, Sta. Quiteria, and San Bartolome), Valenzuela (North Expressway, La Huerta Subdivision), and Malabon.
However, despite the reduced risk, PAGASA advised residents living near riverbanks to remain vigilant.
