Iloilo City grocery robbed of P1.3-M cash


ILOILO CITY – Police have stepped up the manhunt against individuals who looted a grocery here of P1.3 million by digging through a drainage system on Tuesday, August 27.

The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) is looking into the involvement of an organized group in the robbery of the Jaro Branch of the Iloilo Supermart.

“We are committed in identifying the members of this organized group and preventing further incidents,” said ICPO chief Police Col. Kim Legada on Wednesday, August 28.

The ICPO-Jaro Police Station found out that the suspects dug a hole and went in through the outlet of a drainage system  approximately 200 meters away from the grocery.

CCTV footage showed that three men went inside the office where the vault of the grocery was located at around 1 a.m. on August 27.

Amid the absence of leads, Mayor Jerry Treñas announced that the Iloilo city government is offering a reward of P250,000 for any information that would result into the arrest of the suspects.
