Escudero still most trusted, best-performing gov’t official — survey

Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero remains the most trusted and top-performing government official, based on the latest survey results of market research company Tangere.

The survey, conducted from Aug. 20 to 22, found that around 50 percent of Filipinos are satisfied with Escudero’s performance as Senate President, while about 60 percent expressed trust in his leadership. 

It also revealed that the Senate President’s distrust and dissatisfaction ratings are the lowest among top government officials, at 14 percent and 24 percent, respectively.

PBBM’s ratings up

During the same survey period, Tangere said President Marcos’ satisfaction and trust ratings slightly increased, from 45 percent to 45.2 percent, and 58.21 percent to 58.4 percent, respectively.

The President recorded the highest satisfaction and trust in Northern Luzon and Central Luzon and among respondents aged 18 to 35.

Meanwhile, distrust and dissatisfaction are notably higher in Mindanao, Bicol Region, and among respondents aged 45 and above.

Slight dip in VP Sara’s ratings

Among the top five government officials, only Vice President Sara Duterte experienced a “slight” decrease in her satisfaction rating, from 49.29 to 49 percent, though her trust rating remains high at 57.5 percent.

Tangere said the Vice President’s support continues to be strongest in Mindanao, while dissatisfaction and distrust are more prevalent in Central Luzon, Northern Luzon, and Metro Manila.

Romualdez, Gesmundo see improved ratings

Meanwhile, Speaker Martin Romualdez saw positive movement in both satisfaction and trust ratings, rising from 45.17 percent to 45.55 percent, and from 55.13 percent to 55.45 percent, respectively.

Tangere said these gains were particularly observed in Northern Luzon, Central Luzon, Eastern Visayas, and Calabarzon. 

However, dissatisfaction and distrust are higher in Mindanao and among respondents aged 26 to 50.

Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo also showed improvement in his satisfaction and trust ratings for August 2024, with increased support noted in Metro Manila and among respondents aged 26 to 50. 

Tangere said awareness and familiarity levels for the Chief Justice remained relatively unchanged compared to the previous month.

The mobile-based survey has 2,000 participants with a margin of error of +/- 2.2 percent at a 95 percent confidence level. 

The sample was distributed nationwide, with 12 percent from the National Capital Region, 23 percent from Northern Luzon, 22 percent from Southern Luzon, 20 percent from Visayas, and 23 percent from Mindanao.
