Several cities in the eastern part of the National Capital Region (NCR) suspended classes in their respective areas due to heavy rains brought about by the southwest monsoon or habagat on Wednesday, August 28.
The local governments of San Juan, Mandaluyong, Pasig, and Marikina suspended classes in all levels in both public and private schools in their localities following the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration's (PAGASA) issuance of a Heavy Rain Fall Warning raised at the "Yellow Warning Level" in Metro Manila.
Malacañang had earlier suspended public school classes at all levels and work in government offices in the NCR due to the weather disturbance.
