The Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela (Camanava), and Quezon City local governments declared the suspension of classes in all levels, public and private, on Wednesday, August 28, due to the inclement weather brought by the southwest monsoon.
Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco and Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo "Along" Malapitan said the suspension of classes was made based on the recommendation of their disaster risk reduction and management offices.
Classes in all levels in public and private schools, including special education facilities and college, were also suspended in Malabon, Valenzuela, and Quezon cities.
In Valenzuela City, the local government launched “Libreng Sakay” (free rides) for routes such as Malanday-Puregold Dalandanan via MacArthur Highway and Polo-Tatawid to assist passengers amid the flooding in the area.
The city governments added that medical services, disaster response, and other essential services would remain operational.
The local governments encouraged residents to stay indoors to ensure their safety.
