Speaker Martin Romualdez has once again credited his House of Representatives colleagues for his rising trust ratings, as shown by the results of the latest OCTA Research survey.
“We attribute these positive trust ratings to the collaborative efforts of the House in passing pro-people legislation and conducting thorough oversight functions to address critical national issues,” Romualdez, Leyte's 1st district representative, said in a statement Tuesday, Aug. 27.
The second quarter 2024 survey of OCTA Research held from June 30 to July 5 indicated that Romualdez’s trust rating increased to 62 percent, from 61 percent in March.
Perhaps more eye-catching is the significant 9 percent increase in his ratings in Mindanao, from 42 percent to 51 percent, during the same period.
“It affirms that we are on the right track and, more importantly, that our efforts to pass laws and initiatives that improve the lives of our fellow Filipinos are resonating with the public. Tayo ay grateful dito at nananatili ang ating dedikasyon na higitan pa ang ating nagawa sa Kongreso,” the leader of the 300-plus-strong House of Representatives said.
(We are grateful for this, and we maintain our dedication to increase our output in Congress.)
The Speaker noted that the rising survey figures serve as a motivation for him and all House members to continue working towards legislation and programs that genuinely prioritize the welfare of the people.
He added that his high trust ratings challenge him and House members to further push and craft more impactful legislation that benefits the people and addresses societal issues such as Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), illegal drugs, and extrajudicial killings.
“Whether in addressing economic challenges, enhancing public services, or securing the welfare of every Filipino, we will continue to work diligently to bring positive change to every corner of our nation,” Romualdez said.
