President Marcos has lauded the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) for its service to the Filipino people, especially in paving the way for the Philippines to have better infrastructure, healthcare, and education.

Marcos said this in a ceremony commemorating the BSP's 75th anniversary in Malacañan on Tuesday, Aug. 27.

"Let's take a moment to appreciate the BSP’s dedication to building a brighter future for the country," the President wrote in a Facebook post late Tuesday.

President Marcos recognized the Central Bank's efforts to give people more comfortable lives.

"The BSP has kept inflation low, making life more affordable for every family. Their push for digital payments has empowered small businesses and made transactions easier for all," he said.

"With their strong financial management, the Philippines now enjoys better credit ratings, paving the way for more investments in infrastructure, healthcare, and education," he added.

During the ceremony in Malacañan, BSP Governor Eli Remolona Jr. turned over to President Marcos the 750-Piso Silver and 7,500-Piso Gold commemorative coins, highlighting the 75th anniversary of central banking in the Philippines.

The gold and silver non-circulation legal tender coins featured the Intendencia, also known as the Aduana Building located in Intramuros, Manila, that served as the first headquarters of the Central Bank of the Philippines, on the obverse side of the coins.

The reverse side of the coins bore markings of the year "1949," the 75th-anniversary logo in color, the inscription "Celebrating 75 Years of Central Banking in the Philippines," the BSP seal, and the year "2024."

The BSP minted the two commemorative coins with a mirror-like finish, utilizing the latest digital printing technology, while showcasing the BSP’s diamond anniversary.
