'Jesus' arrested for illegal gun possession in Taytay

A .9mm submachine gun was recovered from a man who tried to evade authorities during a police operation in Taytay, Rizal, the Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) reported.

Police identified the suspect as "Jesus," 47.

Based on the police report, members of the Taytay Municipal Police Station (Taytay MPS) were conducting an OPLAN SITA operation in Barangay Dolores when they spotted the suspect.

Upon seeing them, Jesus tried to run away from the authorities but was later caught.

Police officers recovered the Entratec submachine gun together with three live ammunition from the suspect.

Jesus is now detained at the Taytay Custodial Facility and is currently facing charges of resistance and disobedience to a person in authority and their agents, and R.A. 10591 or the "Comprehensive Firearms Law."

Rizal PPO director Col. Felipe Maraggun lauded the arresting officers for Jesus' arrest and urged the public to report any suspicious activity in their area to the police.
