Francis Casey Alcantara seeks to eclipse his previous finish in the Zhangjiagang International Challenger by eyeing no less than the crown with Thai partner Pruchya Isaro this time starting this week in China.

The unseeded Alcantara and Isaro open their title campaign on Wednesday, Aug. 28, when they clash with fellow unseeded Japanese pair Seita Watanabe and Rio Noguchi in the 16-pair field of this Associationoof Tennis Professionals (ATP) event.
Last year, Alcantara teamed up with Chinese Sun Fajing and came close to clinching the crown, only to yield to Chinese Taipei’s Ray Ho and Australia’s Matthew Romios in the finals.
Alcantara and Isaro hope to write a different outcome this time, despite last teaming up in April 2023 at the M25 Jakarta International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament in Indonesia where they made it to the semifinals.
Alcantara and Isaro are both coming off from their respective stints in the Jinan ATP Challenger also in China last week, with the Filipino standout making into the semifinals with Sun and the Thai veteran settling for the runner-up finish with Indonesian partner Christopher Rungkat.
Alcantara also seeks to add another trophy in his growing collection, having won 25 ITF doubles crowns including three this year.
He is currently ranked No. 214 in the ATP doubles, but went as high as No. 162 last February.
