Southeast Asian authorities on alert over Alice Guo's movement—Gatchalian

It will be hard for dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo to move around Southeast Asia as authorities in the region have been alerted, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian said.

Aside from the enforcement agencies in Indonesia, where Guo was last located, authorities from other Southeast Asian countries have also been alerted over Guo's whereabouts.

"I think it is the end of the road for them," Gatchalian said in an interview on the sidelines of the commemoration of National Heroes Day in Taguig City on Monday, Aug. 26.

"Naniniwala ako yung sangay ng enforcement agencies ng Indonesia ay nakaalerto na kaya mahihirapan na siya gumalaw dito sa Southeast Asia (I am confident that the enforcement agencies in Indonesia are now on alert so it will be hard for her to move in Southeast Asia)," he added.

The Senator revealed that he has talked with ambassadors from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) who assured that their authorities are on alert.

"So kanina yung mga ASEAN ambassadors nakausap ko and sabi nila nakaalerto na yung kanilang mga awtordidad. So mahihirapan siya gumalaw ngayon (I talked to the ASEAN ambassadors earlier and they said that they are on alert. So it will be hard for her to move now)," Gatchalian said.

The lawmaker also expressed confidence that Guo will be arrested in Indonesia, where her sister and companion, Sheila Guo and Cassandra Li Ong, were nabbed.

It is possible that Guo's next destination is the Golden Triangle, Gatchalian said, but he is confident that she will finally be apprehended in Indonesia.

"Possibility iyon pero para sa akin mahuhuli siya sa Indonesia (That's a possibility but I think she will be arrested in Indonesia)," he said.

Shiela Guo and Katherine Cassandra Ong have returned to the country after they were considered illegal aliens by Indonesian immigration as they are wanted in the Philippines.
