PNP confident of locating Quiboloy after confirming underground facility using radar
Officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) are confident that they would be able to locate and arrest Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) Apollo Quiboloy inside the religious compound in Davao City especially that the possible hiding place was already located.
The challenge, however, is that the possible hiding place of Quiboloy is an underground facility which PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo estimated to be around 20 to 30 meters from the ground.
“There’s one area, which we estimate to be around 20 to 30 meters from the ground, where we have been detecting signs of life. That is where our concentration is and we believe that it’s only a matter of time before we identify those who were staying underground,” said Fajardo.
An indication that those staying in the underground facilities are important people, according to Fajardo, is that KOJC members would prevent them from approaching the areas where the ground radar detection would work.
“They would not allow our personnel to approach it but we are continuously securing that area and we believe that it’s only a matter time when we could locate the entrance,” said Fajardo.
More than 2,000 policemen are currently inside the KOJC compound in Davao City after intelligence reports revealed that Quiboloy has been hiding inside one of the tunnels inside the 30-hectare property.
The PNP is now using ground penetrating radar, an equipment being used to check on signs of life during landslides and earthquakes, to locate Quiboloy in an underground facility.
Rescued
During the operation, which started on Saturday, Aug. 24, Fajardo said their personnel were able to rescue two people from alleged human trafficking.
Fajardo said the rescue of a 20-year old male and a 51-year old female was done on Sunday, Aug. 25, based on the request for assistance of their respective families who told the police that they were not allowed to go out.
“During our operation there, we were surprised that two families approached us and asked us to rescue their relatives. Along with personnel from the DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development), we rescued them and they were fetched by their respective families,” said Fajardo in a press briefing at Camp Crame.
“So we are calling the others that if they have family members who are not being allowed to go out and they are being held against their will, the PNP is ready to rescue them,” she added.
Fajardo said they are now readying the cases against those responsible in connection with the rescue of the two alleged human trafficking victims.
Self-inflicted
Fajardo also denied allegations that the policemen were hurting KOJC members.
Instead, she hurled back the allegation and said that some of the KOJC members would hurt some of their members with the intention of blaming the police using a KOJC-owned network.
“We have a video showing that some of the members were inflicting wounds on their members to show and blame the police. We are currently authenticating this video,” said Fajardo.
Fajardo also disclosed that seven policemen were injured during the serving of arrest warrant against Quiboloy.
