'Pachinko' enters top 10 in 95 countries, regions on Apple TV+

The Apple TV+ drama series “Pachinko” season 2 entered the top 10 in 95 countries and regions.

“Pachinko” season 2 premiered on Apple TV+ on Aug. 23 starring Lee Minho, Youn Yuh-Jung, Kim Minha, Anna Sawai, Jin Ha, Jung Eunchae, Soji Arai, Han Junwoo and Kim Sungkyu.

According to streaming analytics website FlixPatrol, “Pachinko” placed in the top 10 on Apple TV+ in 95 countries and regions including garnering first place in 14 on Aug. 25.

“Pachinko” is No. 1 in the Philippines, Cambodia, Cape Verde, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

It is No. 6 in the US, Canada and the United Kingdom.

Based on FlixPatrol’s own ranking, “Pachinko” season 2 is No. 3 overall among the top 10 TV shows on Apple TV+ on Aug. 25 behind “Bad Monkey” and “Presumed Innocent.”

In “Pachinko,” Lee Min-ho plays the role of Han-su.

“While the first season was about people trying to survive, the second season is about their lives, settling into a real life. Han-su shows growth as a human being,” Lee said during a press conference for “Pachinko” in Seoul, the Korea Herald reported.

He added, “Instead of approaching fatherhood as something with detailed emotions, I tried to act the character by focusing on concepts like blood and family, something that is more instinctive.”

Kim Min-ha plays the role of the younger Sunja.

“Because the second season features Sunja as a mother and her relationship with her children, I thought more deeply about the family, motherhood and overall relationships in life. I asked my mom and my grandmother why they would love me. They simply answered ‘It is because it’s you,’” she said.

The first episode premiered on Aug. 23 followed by one episode weekly every Friday until Oct. 11.
