Cloudy skies with isolated rains expected over parts of Philippines due to ‘habagat’

In its weather forecast, PAGASA stated that the “habagat” will continue to affect Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon are expected in Visayas, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Quezon, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

The “habagat” is also expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms to Metro Manila, the rest of Calabarzon, and Mindanao.

Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon may also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains or severe thunderstorms.

Coastal waters will be “slight to moderate” throughout the country, PAGASA added.

PAGASA also mentioned that sunrise was at 5:44 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:12 p.m.

Typhoon Shanshan

While still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), PAGASA continues to monitor Typhoon Shanshan.

As of 3 a.m., PAGASA reported that the center of “Shanshan” was estimated to be located 1,490 kilometers (km) east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.

PAGASA noted that “Shanshan” has maximum sustained winds of 140 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 170 km per hour.

Typhoon Shanshan is moving west-northwestward at 25 km/h, according to PAGASA.
