Awaken the heroes within yourselves—VP Sara

Filipinos, especially the youth, were encouraged to take inspiration from the national heroes and awaken the heroes within themselves.

Vice President Sara Duterte made the call through her message on the celebration of National Heroes Day on Monday, Aug. 26.

"Maging inspirasyon din sana natin ang kanilang kadakilaan at gisingin ang mga bayaning nagkukubli sa puso ng bawat Pilipino, lalo na sa ating mga kabataan (May their greatness be our inspiration and awaken the hero within the hearts if every Filipino, especially the youth)," Duterte said.

She urged the citizenry to remember the Filipino heroes who have sacrificed their lives for the nation's freedom.

The Vice President also expressed hopes that by remembering the national heroes, Filipinos would learn from their resolve, bravery, love for their fellowmen, and integrity in serving the nation.

She further stressed the importance of maintaining freedom, progress, and peace in the country.

"Tunay lamang nating masusundan ang halimbawa ng ating mga bayani sa pamamagitan ng pagiging mabuting mamamayan na nagtataguyod ng mga prinsipyong nagbibigkis sa lahat ng mga Pilipino (We will be able to emulate our heroes by being a good citizen that upholds the principle that unites all Filipinos)," Duterte said.

"Mahalaga rin na tayo'y magsumikap upang tayo ay manatiling malaya, maunlad, at mapayapa bilang isang bansa (It is also important for us to strive in order for us to remain free, progressives, and peaceful as a country)," Duterte added.
