Heavy rains cause wall to collapse, flooding in SLEX in Muntinlupa


A wall collapsed and damaged cars in a subdivision due to heavy rains in Muntinlupa on Aug. 25. 

The heavy rains also caused flooding in the Muntinlupa portion near Susana Heights toll gate of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), resulting in heavy traffic in the southbound lane.

“SLEX” trended on X (formerly Twitter) as motorists and commuters vented their anger and frustration of being stuck in heavy traffic.

According to the Muntinlupa Operations Center, the wall collapsed and fell on three parked cars inside the Treelane Subdivision in Barangay Putatan. No one was injured in the incident. 

A video by subdivision resident Wilfredo Alfonso showed the incident. A landslide caused the wall to collapse. A rescue team responded to the incident.

On Marigold Street, also in Barangay Putatan, a wall of a home collapsed. No one was injured in the incident. 

The operations center also reported that a tree on Amparo Street in Barangay Poblacion, Muntinlupa fell. 

In Southville 3 housing project in Barangay Poblacion, some residents living near a creek were evacuated.
